The Test in Testimony

Updated: Jun 21, 2019

I once thought that God seemed a little harsh when after all Job had gone through, He said to “take it like a man...”, or when Jesus cursed the fig tree to wither & die after it didn’t produce fruit in an off season.

However, lately those stories keep popping into my head & all I can see is God on the sidelines encouraging Job saying, “You’ve got this!” Job’s circumstances were no surprise to Him & the trials Job went through were deliberately because God bragged about Job’s righteousness in the presence of our enemy & God believing that no matter what Job went through, he would make it through on the other side. God ultimately had more faith in Job than Job had in himself & when we are in Him, He promises that what Satan means for evil will be used for our good & always attaches a blessing at the end. Now I look at the story of the fig tree & see Jesus making a promise to us that even in those off seasons where we have every excuse not to produce fruit with our lives, that with God, all things are possible.

God is not looking for spoiled children who cannot be used. God is looking to strengthen us through our trials and tests so that after we walk through them, we will have a testimony in the end to help others along the way. There is no testimony without a test. Instead of praying that God removes the obstacles in our lives, pray that He makes us strong enough to overcome them.

Instead of seeing God as unjust through our trials, remember that everything we’ve gone through, His only begotten son Jesus went through & can empathize with us in our weaknesses, & if Jesus had to learn obedience through the things He suffered, how much more so do we? Whatever trial you’re going through, you’ve got this & as I reminded myself through all the pain of every natural childbirth, “I was made for this!” The most beautiful blessings in life don’t come without pain, they come through them. In fitness, the greater the resistance, the greater the gains.
