Teachable

When I was doing my first challenge at boot camp, I embarrassingly asked if we could basically have unlimited amounts of watermelon. I heard so much about the benefits of watermelon & how it’s almost all water, that I had a big bowl of it almost every night that I looked forward to. While others have wine, I had watermelon, & I thought I was doing something good for myself. I knew other fruit in excess amounts still had carbs, but I was under the notion watermelon didn’t & I ate it in excess. I never thought to look it up because I thought I knew. Turns out, it has almost 20 net carbs per serving & I was eating probably 3-4 servings almost nightly, not anchored with protein, which is horrible for blood sugar. 😬 I am so glad I asked that question or I would have never known.

In life, I want to always remain teachable. The people I seek to listen to are not people who boast about their knowledge, but those who are wise enough to know they don’t know everything & humble enough to come alongside others, admit their mistakes, & share how they’ve overcome. I want to listen to people who keep asking questions & refuse to believe they’re too old or too wise to learn from others or make excuses & give up.

I find it unattractive when people compare themselves to someone beneath them in an area & say they’re better than them so they’re ok with themselves. There will always be people greater, there will always be people further up the mountain. The people who are up there didn’t get dropped there. I seek to learn from them, & keep growing.

As long as I’m breathing, as long as I remain connected to Him, I have the capacity to grow & bear fruit. I don’t want to peak in life. The moment we think we’ve peaked is the moment we stop growing & living. People need me & what I’ve learned, & I need others & what they’ve learned. Until we meet Him face to face, we see through such a foggy mirror, & each of us who are made in His image can help us see a little clearer. #fitspiration #neverpeak #alwaysgrowing #remainteachable
