Schedules dismissed, people on lockdown, schools canceled, crisis homeschooling, spouses working from home, and kids home all day, all the time without a way to get away and breathe. If that weren’t enough, let’s throw in freedoms taken and given away, an economic collapse, jobs lost, preachers arrested, innocent extroverts threatened, criminals let loose, cyber bullying, fear of the unseen, and a plethora of lies in the media while new laws are continually being pushed while we sleep. It’s enough to make anyone suspicious of what’s really going on. Things we cannot control begging for our attention, and our eyes opened to darknesses we cannot unsee.
In the midst of all the chaos, we have a sweet Savior knocking on the door of our hearts waiting for us to welcome Him in. A God who knows the end from the beginning and all the times between, asking us to surrender our cares and lay our burdens at His feet. With an upturned schedule and the countless interruptions and noisiness of five kids, my quiet time routine had been all but lost as I felt engulfed by all the craziness around me. Last week, I had enough and vowed to start my day off once again with the One who gives my soul rest. I was reminded again of a quote I had in my old Bible that said “God, when I’m not in Your presence, I forget how awesome You are. God, when I’m in Your presence, I feel foolish for leaving.” As a result, my time on my phone went down 44% last week, and I made a piece of art to go along with an old poem I wrote in my teens. Hope you enjoy!
